Our chalet Stefanino, built in the traditional style of Wallis (Valais), is situated on a sunny slope far above the valley of Goms. It consists of a 3-room-apartment (1rst floor) and a 2-room-apartment (ground floor). From our chalet, the view down the valley and to the Weisshorn (4508 m) and the Wannenhorn (3906 m) is just overwhelming.
We exchange 1 room for 1 person in the shared 3-room-holiday-apartment on the 1st floor. In this shared apartment there are 2 bedrooms of which one is for private use. It has got two bunk beds (2 x 90 x 200 cm). Furthermore our exchange guest will share a living-room with TV, DVD-player, CD-radio, a dining-kitchen with electric stove and oven, a refrigerator with freezer compartment, a bathroom with WC and shower, and a balcony.
Our chalet is in an absolutely calm pedestrian area, surrounded by meadows and typical Swiss mountain chalets. Nearby: Groceries, bank, postal office, restaurants, WiFi, playgrounds, tourist office, indoor swimming pool, downhill and cross-country skiing, chairlift, tennis, football, table tennis a.s.o.
The historical part of Bellwald consists of very old Walser houses (built from logs and masonry according to the traditional methods of the 17th century) and a baroque parish church. Despite all the development for winter and summer tourism, the village has been able to preserve its bucolic charm. Thanks to it's position on a southern slope high above the Goms Valley, it is one of the villages of Oberwallis (Upper Valais) that gets the most sunsine hours.Bellwald is on the border of the UNESCO Nature World Heritage Aletsch with Europe's largest Alpine glacier. In less than one hour you can get to the top of the Eggishorn, from where you have a spectacular view of the Aletschglacier and some of the highest peaks of Europe. In the Goms Valley you will have the choice of three ski resorts: The smaller family ski resort of Bellwald, the much larger ski arena of Aletsch (with more than 100 km of slopes), as well as the exciting ski resort of Belalp. Furthermore the region offers plenty of other activities, such as cross-country skiing, hiking, hang-gliding, trekking, mountain climbing, swimming in crystalclear Alpine lakes and in Brigerbad (the largest hot spring bath in Switzerland), (mountain) biking, tennis, mini-golf, table tennis a.s.o.In Brig (30 km away) you can take direct trains to Milan, Geneva, Bern and Basel (with connecting trains to Florence, Rome, Venice, France and Germany).
Bellwald is easily accessible by public transport: the MGB (red mountain train) will take you from Brig to Fürgangen, and from there you will reach Bellwald by cable car. Our chalet Stefanino is only an 8-minute-walk from the cable car station. The MGB takes you also comfortably to Zermatt or Disentis (from where you can travel on to Chur/Davos/St. Moritz).
The nearest airports are Milan (Malpensa max. 2 1/4 hours by car from Bellwald), Zurich/Kloten (ca. 2 1/2 hrs) and Geneva/Cointrin (ca. 3 hrs).
Bellwald is all year round easily accessible by car (during the winter, all the roads are cleared from the snow. However winter tyres and snow chains are indispensable). There is a communal parking free of charge about 250 m from the chalet.
